Sandi Johnson

Director

Sandi started her career in theatre, serving as the Literary Manager at New York Stage and Film and the Managing Producer of the Actors Studio Free Theater for director Arthur Penn before eventually co-founding and running an Off-Broadway theatre company, Pure Orange Productions. She was also the Associate Producer of the Broadway production of Sam Shepard’s “True West,” featuring Philip Seymour Hoffman and John C. Reilly.

Moving to Los Angeles just as unscripted television was beginning its’ boom, Sandi has worked on series like Project Greenlight, The Bachelor, Hell’s Kitchen, Dance Moms and Undercover Boss, rising to the role of Executive Producer and Showrunner. Sandi has also served as the SVP of Production for Collins Avenue, and as an Executive Producer in the Franchise Department at Amazon Studios, overseeing the BTS process for some of their largest scripted shows.

Sandi was a Sundance New Voices Fellow in 2019, and is currently earning her MFA from USC's School of Cinematic Arts, where she was the recipient of the John Huston Memorial Scholarship for Merit in Directing. She has twice been nominated for an Emmy, winning once, and was also the recipient of a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award.

Sandi is passionate about making films about women and other people whose stories are often overlooked, and her greatest hope is to help people, through her work, feel less alone.
